GSK is a science-led global healthcare company that researches and develops innovative healthcare products in the areas of Pharmaceuticals, Vaccines and Consumer Healthcare.
Our products are used by millions of people around the world, with the aim of helping them to do more, feel better and live longer.
Healthcare professionals (HCPs) need access to high quality up-to-date information to help them make the best choices for their patients.
GSK has an important role to play in providing accurate and balanced scientific information about our products and disease areas to HCPs. We are committed to ensuring we interact with healthcare professionals in line with our core values of transparency, respect for people, integrity and patient focus. Our sales professionals provide information directly to HCPs about our medicines and vaccines and the conditions they are approved to treat.
As well as providing information about our products, GSK will continue to support medical education programmes that provide HCPs with the latest information on disease, diagnosis and treatment. Traditionally, this support has included providing direct financial support to enable HCPs to attend medical conferences to hear about new discoveries, the latest evidence for treatments or advances in care.
We have an important role to play in supporting education for healthcare professionals. But we also recognise that some practices – such as directly funding education, paying healthcare professionals to speak about our medicines or funding travel to meetings – may leave room for perceived bias or conflict of interest.
We also know that technology offers new ways to access information. This is why we are changing the way we interact with healthcare professionals. – to ensure that all interactions are open, transparent and meet the needs of the healthcare professional.
